Ambassadors Committee: Chair: Bob Boulden: This committee is comprised of Ambassadors for the Chamber. They assist in recruiting members, ribbon cuttings, business after hours, and are a true advocate for the Chamber and its mission. They are also responsible for the coveted Building a Better Beaufort County Award that rewards businesses for beautifying their area as well as providing a positive economic impact. Recently they have also been giving the Building a Better Tomorrow Today Award to local businesses for their philanthropic endeavors in the community.
Education Committee: Chair: Shannon White: This committees goal is to foster public - private business and education relationships that promote cooperation and learning; create learning opportunities for chamber members and the community.
This committee hosts the annual Job Shadow Day and also offers the Adult Team Trivia Bee as a fundraiser for Bright Futures Beaufort County and workforce development projects. We feel it is important for us to educate our future workforce about what opportunities are available here and what path you need to take to work at various companies in the County. Job Shadow Day is held in February.
Summer Festival Committee: The goal of the Summer Festival Committee is to plan a successful community-wide Washington Summer Festival. We recently celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the Summer Festival and thanks to PotashCorp-Aurora we were able to bring the NC Symphony to downtown Washington for a free concert. Our goal of the Summer Festival is to create a community event where there is something for everyone.
Young Professionals Group: This new committee designed for ages 18-45 provides a great opportunity for professionals to network and educate themselves on important issues facing Beaufort County. We are the go-to organization for young professionals looking to become more engaged in the business community through professional development, community involvement, and networking and social activities.
